We are a choir that is open to all members of First Unitarian as well as the wider Pittsburgh Community and that does many different types of performances. We make connections in the Pittsburgh community and perform at community events that have a focus on social justice, interfaith cooperation and/or multicultural celebration. These community performances are usually done in collaboration with one or more partner choirs – the AAMI Lemington Gospel Chorale, Coro Latinamericano, the Pittsburgh UU Cluster Choir, the Thanksgiving interfaith combined choirs, the Let Freedom Sing combined choirs. We also serve as a church choir at First Unitarian, and occasionally other local UU Churches, about once per month. Community Singers members are encouraged to rehearse and perform with us as much as possible, while still maintaining a pace and schedule that works with their life. Our most dedicated members sing in most of our community and church performances and rehearsals; some singers only have capacity to sing for a few weeks out of the year; some perform only at First UU, while others mostly perform in community concerts. All are welcome.
Community Singers and director Kris Rust appreciate the generous support of First Unitarian.
Come sing with us! The next Wednesday rehearsal is Sept 25.
