Abstract: In this talk, Dr. James Huguley of the Center on Race and Social Problems will provide a basic overview of Critical Race Theory, and will speak on ways it is being used and misused in a polarized political climate. He will unpack what has become a buzzword and provide practical ways to think about race in public discourse moving forward.
About the Speaker: Dr. James P Huguley is an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. He is also the Chair for Race and Youth Development at the Center on Race and Social Problems. He and his wife Alison have two children ages 7 and 9, and reside in the Swisshelm Park neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
