Call for Artists – Annual Members’ Art Exhibit 2024

First Unitarian’s annual exhibit of artworks done by our Members and Friends of the Church will be in October this year, rather than September as it usually is.  We hope to show fiber arts, photography, assemblages, drawings, and paintings in all media. To indicate your interest and to receive labels and other details, please call, text or write Linda Kauffman, 412-241-1528, LK01@andrew.cmu.edu. It should be another great show!

YOU SHOULD PLAN TO:  Bring your work to the Garden Lobby, Thursday OCTOBER 3 between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. – we will hang the show immediately after that. If you can, stay to help hang the show.  All work must be labeled and “ready to hang/display” – that means a wire (not a hook) on the back that can be hung on our display system.
Artwork will come down between October 27 and October 30.

Other news from Your Art Committee
More information about The Pillow Case Parade on exhibit now in the Undercroft can be found in the wall-mounted glass cabinet in the Undercroft. ( A few copies of the write-up are on the table under the cabinet). As you may already know, all of the pillowcases will be delivered to Children’s Hospital in August. If you want to contribute to the pillowcase project, a member of the Pillow Case Brigade may be at a table in the Undercroft with a box for contributions for the purchase of fabric. The Pillow Case Parade will come off the walls shortly after Sunday, August 4.
The next exhibit – coming in August and on the walls through September is the B&A Quilt show. The show features the work of Barb Gengler and Al Schwartz, two very skilled and very prolific quilters. A reception for the show will take place after service on Sunday, August 18. At that time, you can take home a quilt on the wall if you want to purchase it, or you can purchase one of the other quilts that Barb and Al are offering. Part of the proceeds from quilts on the wall goes to the Church Art Committee Fund. Barb and Al contribute part of the proceeds for any other quilts they sell to the church or a charity of their choice. The quilt sale will be repeated a couple of times until the show comes down at the end of September.

Enjoy the artwork of our talented church family!!
