PIIN (The Pennsylvania Interfaith Impact Network)

The Share the Plate nominee for October is PIIN (The Pennsylvania Interfaith Impact Network)
Since 2000 PIIN has been organizing people of faith to change the balance of power for justice and equity in Southwestern Pa. PIIN is a power building organization of 31 interfaith congregations, nonprofits and labor organizations focused on effecting change through the practices of community organizing. Through mentoring and training leaders, building relationships with those in power and holding them accountable, and planning and implementing powerful collective action, PIIN creates opportunities for motivated people, especially marginalized people, to build power for justice.

PIIN hopes you will join in two PIIN election activities.
First, PIIN is canvassing to GOTV in the Mon Valley the two weekends before the election, both Saturday and Sunday, 1-4:00 p.m., October 26 & 27, and November 2 & 3. Meet at the Pittsburgh Mennonite Church on Braddock in Swissvale. PIIN needs 100 people to canvass on one of the 4 days.

Second, PIIN and other Environmental Justice organizations are sponsoring a Candidates Forum on October 30, 5-8:00 p.m. Registration and dinner at 5:00. Panel at 6-8:00 p.m.
PIIN also wants 100 people wearing PIIN t-shirts to attend the Forum. T-shirts will be available at the door for $10.00.

PIIN wants incumbents and candidates to see that PIIN represents a lot of people and is therefore an organization they should listen to and work with. Remember how we used to get lots of people to attend the 1000-person meetings at Rodef Shalom. Lots of PIIN members attending the Forum is a similar effort
